Week 2 of The Postcard Cure: our way of helping you cope a little better with the Monday Blues. As we wrote last week: this weeks theme is Typical Dutch. We choose this theme as tomorrow, April 30th 2013, is a special day in the Netherlands. Each year on April 30th it is Koninginnedag (Queensday) – a day on which we celebrate the birthday of our queen (allthough it is actually her mothers birthday – read more about that here). This year it is extra special – as this year it is the last Queensday of Queen Beatrix. Tomorrow, she will abdicate and our new king, Willem – Alexander, will be crowned. So, next year we no longer have a Queensday, but a Kingsday. And this will not be on April 30th, but on April 27th. We thought this was enough reason to make todays Postcard Cure all about Typical Dutch postcards. Ofcourse we included a few – well actually a lot – cards that feature the Dutch Royal House, or Het Huis Oranje-Naussa as we say in the Netherlands. We also added some cards that just say ´Ik houd van Holland´ and ofcourse: our own special card with Speculaasplanken – with this card we are sponsoring Het Oranje Fonds.
All cards can now be found in our shop – and remember: the special prices are only valid this week! Looking for more cards that are Typical Dutch? Hit our Postcrossing-section! Enjoy the cards – order now and you might have them in time for the next weekend. Want to get te feeling of the flea-market – one of the traditional activities we organise on Queensday? Hit our ´for sale´corner – with new cards by eg Tushita.
Next week: in honor of our love for reading, the theme will be books.
